Obituary of Dennis Schucker

Dennis "Denny" N. Schucker, age 70 of Painted Post, NY, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira, NY. Born on June 11, 1954, in Troy, PA, Denny was the son of James "Lane" and Wilma (Carnright) Schucker. He retired from Corning Inc. and attended the Victory Highway Wesleyan Church. Denny was a man full of life and passion, always ready to embrace the moment and share a laugh with those around him. As a proud member of the Free Spirit Hang Gliding Club, he was known for the joyful smile that lit up his face whenever he prepared to launch from Harris Hill. With each thermal he caught, his spirit soared, always in pursuit of the next great adventure in the sky. A lifelong Harley Davidson enthusiast, Denny's love for motorcycles began with the custom chopper he built in his youth and evolved through many bikes over the years, each a testament to his passion for the open road. His final ride, a cherished Harley Road King, symbolized the freedom and adventure that he embraced throughout his life. In his later years, Denny found joy in perfecting the art of brewing. As a self-proclaimed "brew master," he delighted in creating unique and flavorful brews, which were enjoyed and admired by many of his loved ones. His wife lovingly referred to his hobby as "Frog Hollow Brewing," a nod to the playful spirit that he always carried with him. Denny's life was a celebration of the outdoors, adventure, the arts, and the joy of being with the people he loved. Adventure was at the heart of everything he did, bringing him incredible happiness whether he was hiking winding trails, tracking game through dense forests, or casting a line into quiet streams. His connection with nature grew stronger with each new journey, whether he was exploring the vast wilderness of the Adirondack Mountains or relaxing at his family's place on Lamoka Lake. At Lamoka Lake, Denny thrived driving his boats, canoeing, fishing, and savoring the simple pleasure like laying in his hammock under the trees he lovingly cared for. He shared this love of the lake and his adventurous spirit with his family and friends, creating lifelong memories for so many there. Denny's passion for life was also reflected in his woodworking, where he crafted beautiful, handcrafted works. All of these pursuits, whether in the wild, on the water, in his workshop or with his loved ones, showed his adventurous free spirit and his deep appreciation for life's simple, yet profound, pleasures. Denny is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Crandall) Schucker; his sister Deena (George) Cordingly-McNeal of Florida; his cherished nieces Sarah and Jenny, and nephews Connor and Tyler, along with several other nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Kay Randall. Denny's spirit, character, passion, and the joy he brought to life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His was a life well-lived, leaving behind memories that will be cherished forever. A memorial service to celebrate Denny's life will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024, from 3-5 PM at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 South Main Street, Mansfield, PA.
