Obituary of Joseph Szczech
Joseph "Joey" R. Szczech of Gillet, PA passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at the age of 76. He was the son of the late Joseph W. and Josephine V. (Mundy) Szczech. Joseph was born April 23, 1948 in New Brunswick, NJ. He graduated in 1967 from Princeton High School. Joseph was employed at the A&P Plant, Hardinge Inc., Artistic Greetings, and Dura-Bilt Products, Inc. He was a proud Sergeant of the United States Airforce for 4 years. Joseph was a devoted Catholic Christian and attended church every Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elmira, NY.
Joseph was an avid bowler, fisherman, and a collector of stamps, coins, and baseball cards. He was a loyal fan of the Elmira Pioneers, the Miami Dolphins, and was a die-hard Dodgers fan.
Joseph is survived by his sons, Joseph E. Szczech of Cocoa, FL and Paul J. Szczech of Elmira, NY; granddaughter, Katlynn Williams; and siblings, Louise Wilber of Troy, PA, Barbara Szczech of Gillett, PA, Robert (Donna) Szczech of Gillett, PA, Frances (Joe) Weed of Milan, PA, Elizabeth (Richard) Fletcher of Gillett, PA, and Leona (Tim) Bell of Gillett, PA.
A memorial mass will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 11:00am at St. John's Nepomucene Catholic Church 133 Exchange St. Troy, PA with Reverend Joseph P. Kutch as celebrant. A luncheon will follow the service. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA is assisting the family. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com
