Obituary of Lloyd Jacoby Jr.
Lloyd (Skip) Charles Jacoby, Jr., age 77 of Mansfield, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024. He was born to the late Lloyd Charles Jacoby, Sr., and Esther M Pisle Jacoby on April 22, 1946 in Harrisburg, PA.
Skip attended Steelton-Highspire High School, before joining the US Air Force, where he served as combat medic. He later attended Harrisburg Area Community College and earned an Associate's degree in Science.
While a student in high school, he was a member of the state championship basketball team and continued to closely follow his alma mater's sporting endeavors throughout his life. He enjoyed keeping up with his high school classmates through reunions, lunches, and emails.
While serving in the Airforce as a combat medic in Vietnam, he was the recipient of several awards. Throughout his life after his military service, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He continued to support veterans through his work with Endless Mountain Transportation by driving vets to appointments at the VA Hospital.
Family was a priority for Skip. He enjoyed spending time with his siblings, Jack, Jane and June, and cousin Kat in Steelton and Harrisburg, PA, at holiday celebrations where many hands of pinochle card games were enjoyed. In his younger days, he enjoyed spending summers on vacation with his late brother-in-law, Rodney, and his nieces and nephews. More recently, he loved spending time with his grandchildren Jonah, Daniel and Amelia.
Skip is survived by his two children, Heather Jacoby Yacovissi and Jonathan Jacoby, his daughter-in-law Rachel Krouse Jacoby, and his grandchildren, Jonah Yacovissi and Daniel and Amelia Jacoby.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for him during his last illness. Donations may be made to United Service Organization (USO) online at https://www.uso.org/donate/donate-in-honor
