Obituary of Karyl L. Knowlton

Karyl Lee (Obourn) Knowlton, age 80, of Mansfield, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at The Green Home in Wellsboro, PA. She was born on August 1, 1943 in Wellsboro, PA, a daughter of William and Arlene (Higley) Obourn. She was married to Garth W. Knowlton, and they raised their family in California where they lived until they returned to Tioga County in 2019. Karyl was a professional banker with Bank of America for over 25 years. She loved to travel with her family and enjoyed adventures in many countries as well as across the United States. She was a baseball fanatic since she was a little girl and became a lifelong San Francisco Giants fan, attending games in the City by the Bay as well as other stadiums. She was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed. Karyl is survived by her husband, Garth W. Knowlton; a daughter, Terri Knowlton (Will Isaacs) of Pollock Pines, CA; a brother, Lewis (Lana) Obourn of Haines City, FL; and four sisters, Janet (John) Sticklin of Wellsboro, PA, Jean (Mike) Lundgren of Wellsboro, PA, Joan (Ted) Zuchowski of Wellsboro, PA, and Wendy (Bill) Bower of New Paltz, NY, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, William R. Knowlton of Placerville, CA (September 2016). In honoring Karyl's wishes, there will be no services.
