Obituary of Elaine Helen Cecere

Elaine Helen Cecere, age 82, of Mansfield, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at UPMC Wellsboro Hospital. She was born on February 16, 1941 in Queens, NY, a daughter of William and Mecislausa Helen (Derewianka) Burdian. Elaine was married to James Cecere for 61 years. She was a teacher for Wellsboro School District and a member of Holy Child Catholic Church. Elaine enjoyed flowers, wreaths, drawing, decorating, bears, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a proud New Yorker at her core. Elaine also loved the beach and swimming. Elaine is survived by her husband; a son, Matthew Cecere of Vail, CO; two daughters, Gabrielle (Jim) Welch of Mansfield, PA, and Jessica Cecere of Brooklyn, NY; two granddaughters, Abigail and Elizabeth Welch; and a sister, Donna (Angelo) Della Pietra of FL. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Joseph Burdian. Friends and family are invited to call on Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 5-7pm at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 11am at Holy Child Catholic Church 242 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA with Reverend Bryan Wright as celebrant. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery in Mansfield, PA.
