Obituary of Jean E. Dewey
Jean E. Dewey, age 68, of Covington, PA, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro, PA. She was born on March 9, 1955, in Somerville, NJ, a daughter of James and Clara (Beaton) Vreeland. Jean was the wife of Fredric Dewey, with whom she shared nearly 33 years of matrimony. She worked as a caregiver at Martha Lloyd Community Services in Mansfield, PA, and as a cook at Mansfield University and several restaurants. Jean loved cooking and baking with her grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her husband, Fredric; daughters, Billie Jean Cook of Mansfield, PA, and Billie Jo Spratt of Yonkers, NY; grandchildren, Jesse (Kellie) Vaughn, Sienna Spratt, Anthony Davila, Marquis (Mariah) Green and Khalil Green; great grandchildren, Nova Lee Green and Lavadius Green; brother, James Vreeland of New Jersey; and sisters, Patricia Lane, and Jacqueline Vreeland, both of New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Virginia Worthington.
Friends and family are invited to call from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3:00 P.M. with Reverend Harry Colegrove officiating.
