Obituary of Jack Rasmussen
Jack Arnold Rasmussen, age 88, of Corning, NY, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira, NY. He was born on August 3, 1935, in Mansfield, PA, a son of Gunnar and Mary (Knowlton) Rasmussen. Jack was the husband of Betty (Jackson) Rasmussen with whom he shared nearly 62 years of matrimony. He worked as a gardener at the estate of Amory Houghton Sr. and was a member of the Bakerburg Community Church. Jack was a veteran of the United States Navy and enjoyed hunting, fly fishing and spending time with his many special nieces and nephews. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan and enjoyed his canine friends Heidi and Noelle.
Jack is survived by his wife, Betty; daughters, Kim Rasmussen of Corning, NY, and Kelli Rasmussen; sister, Linda Montessi of WA; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Gene (Joan) Jackson of Mainesburg, PA, Mary (Alfred) Sparling of Troy, PA, Bob (Peggy) Jackson of Mainesburg, PA, and Duane (Mary) Jackson of Mainesburg, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Joseph Rasmussen in 2011.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 11am at Tioga County Memorial Gardens in Mansfield, PA with Pastor Don Rice officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West Caton Baptist Church, 10663 W Caton Rd, Corning, NY 14830, or to Bakerburg Community Church, 197 Gray Valley Rd, Mainesburg, PA 16932.
