Obituary of Charles Slingerland
Charles Bud Slingerland, age 60, of Mansfield, PA, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA . Bud was born on January 19, 1948 in Wellsboro, PA, a son of Warren and Alice (Cox) Slingerland. He had been employed by the US Army Corps of Engineer and was a mechanic for Pepsi. Bud enjoyed John Deere and watching Jeff Gordon racing. He was a veteran of the US Air Force having served in Vietnam. Bud was a former president for the Mansfield Firemens Ambulance Association and had been a paramedic.
Bud is survived by his mother, Alice Slingerland, of Mansfield, PA; three sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Amanda Slingerland of Mansfield, PA, Nathaniel and Kristi Slingerland of Mt. Morris, NY, Warren and Candy Slingerland of Sunbury, NC; a daughter, Victoria Slingerland of Buford, SC currently serving in the US Marine Corps; step-daughter, Barbie Morningstar of Mansfield, PA; eight grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Gary Burleigh of Mansfield, PA; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Denise Slingerland of Columbia Cross Rds.; a very special friend, Susan Brown of Tioga, PA; and the mother of his children, Carolyn Slingerland of Mansfield, PA.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 from 5 to 7 PM at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 7 PM at the funeral home with Dr. John Q. Kenzy officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701, or to the Mansfield Firemens Ambulance Association, Mansfield, PA 16933.
