Obituary of Avis Roeie Deats
Avis Roeie Deats, age 78, of Lawrenceville, PA, died Saturday, July 26, 2008 in the Green Home, Wellsboro, PA. Avis was born August 18, 1929 in Jackson Twp., PA, a daughter of Raymond and Roeie (Shelman) Deming. She was the wife of Donald Ted Deats, with whom she celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 28, 2008. Avis was a bus driver for the Northern Tioga School District for 41 years. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Lawrenceville, PA, Republican Council, and the Rebekahs. She enjoyed embroidering pillowcases for her grandchildren.
Avis is survived by her husband, Donald; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Deborah Deats of Lawrenceville, PA, Michael and Mary Gay Deats of Middlebury Center, PA; 7 grandchildren, Kara, Katie, Krista, Tanya, Christopher, Mary Janae, and Kayla; a niece, Judy (Sam) Richardson of NC; a nephew, Steven (Lois) Deming of Campbell, NY; many special friends. Avis was predeceased by a brother, Charles Stub Deming.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday, July 30, 2008 from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Robert Strozyk and Rev. William Lusk officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church, Franklin St., Lawrenceville, PA 16929.
