Obituary of William Russell Putnam
William "Billy" R. Putnam, age 83 of Mansfield, PA, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 at The Green Home in Wellsboro, PA. Billy was born March 12, 1940 in Blossburg, PA, a son of Donald H. and Thelma B. (Bailey) Putnam. He worked as a mechanic and then Service Manager for Dahlgren Chevrolet for many years. Later he worked as a mechanic for Costy's Chrysler Plymouth. Billy was a veteran of the US Army. In his younger years, he roofed houses. He always enjoyed taking junk and making it into something useful. In his later years, he was the local repairman for lawn mowers, weed eaters, rototillers, or anything with a motor. Billy's woodworking skills were exceptional, and he has left behind many beautiful treasures for his loved ones.
Billy is survived by his wife, Elisabeth "Lisa" Putnam; brothers, Robert (Eliene) Putnam of Burdett, NY and James (Debi) Putnam of Lawrence, KS; sisters, Kathryn Clark of Mansfield, PA and Marilyn Doud of Mansfield, PA; special niece, Billie Sue (Mark) Morgan of Wellsboro, PA; and several other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Donald Putnam, who passed in 1983, Richmond Putnam in 1995, and Carolyn (Suzie) Grandt in 2004.
