Obituary of Danny Leroy Smith
Danny Leroy Smith, age 83, of Lawrenceville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at his home. He was born on June 19, 1940 in Kokomo, IN, a son of Raymond Marshall and Evelyn (Cooperider) Smith. Danny was married to Janet (Gridley) Abramson Smith. He was a laborer Cabot Stellite Lalloy. Danny served in the National Guard and was awarded the Rifleman Expert Medal. He was a lifetime fisherman, avid hunter, exceptional wood carver, and artist. Danny enjoyed rebuilding hot rods.
Danny is survived by wife, Janet Smith; a son, Daniel "Danny" (Ann) Smith of Sharpsville, IN; four daughters, Rosemary (Chuck) Cousins Kokomo, IN, Melinda (Jim) Chalfant of Castle Rock, CO, Melanie (Roger) Hatch of Marshalltown, IA, and Marie (Hersch) Herschberger of Wauseon, OH; three stepchildren, Michelle (Paul) Zylowski of NC, Rachelle (Eric Bateman) Fletcher of Romulus, NY, Peter David (Peggy) Abramson of Pine City, NY; twenty grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a brother, Bud (Sue) Smith of Kokomo, IN; a sister, Connie Johnson of Kokomo, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 4-5pm at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will follow at 5pm with Pastor Steven Neff officiating. Burial will take place in Nelson Cemetery.
