Obituary of Richard Marvin
Richard Marvin, age 82, a lifelong resident of Covington, PA, passed away June 14, 2023, with his family by his side.
Richard was born on February 24, 1941, in Blossburg, PA, a son of Russell T. and Lottie (Jaquish) Marvin. He was a graduate of North Penn High School, Blossburg.
On December 3, 1967, Richard married the love of his life, Joanne Wilson Marvin. They celebrated 55 years of marriage in December 2022. Together they had two daughters, Sara and Jan.
Richard was the third-generation owner-operator of Marvin's Market in Covington, PA alongside his brother, Russell C. Marvin. After his retirement in 2003, he worked as a part time courier for First Citizens Community Bank.
Richard was an active member of the Covington Church of Christ, where he was a deacon and enjoyed volunteering in a variety of church activities and events.
Richard was a kindhearted and a kid at heart. He loved to joke and tease. He was an animal lover, enjoyed model railroads, tinkering in his garage, and was famous for his sweet tooth. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Richard is survived by his wife, Joanne and his daughters, Sara (Michael) Lord of Winfield, PA, and Jan (Shawn) Mitcheltree of Mansfield, PA; sisters-in-law Donna (Donald) Johnson of Athens, PA, Phyllis (James) Skaehill of Tuscon, AZ, Cindy (Matthew) Weiskopff of Covington, PA, and Cathy (Steve) Morely of Filmore, NY; brother-in-law Donald (Donna) Wilson of Blossburg, PA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Russell C. Marvin.
