On behalf of the staff and Board of the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation, I send our deepest condolences to the family and hospital colleagues of Lori. I met Lori at a rural hospital meeting at a PA Office of Rural Health gathering. I remember having lunch with her and being so impressed regarding what a great champion she was with moving Guthrie Troy forward with trauma center accreditation as a Level IV trauma center. She had a great smile and wonderful leadership presence. What a great life she led advocating for the best healthcare possible in rural PA. Our hearts are with you all. Saddened on the loss of a wonderful woman. - Juliet Altenburg, President, PA Trauma Systems Foundation

I first met Lori when she was doing her clinicals for nursing school. She fit right in the craziness of the operating room and was a quick study. I always loved working with her as she was always cracking jokes and even behind the mask I knew she was smiling because her eyes twinkled with a devilish expression. Above all, she was a true patient advocate. Lori was a nurse anyone would have been blessed to have at their side. When she took the new job I told her she was too good to be sitting behind a desk, patients needed her.
We rode to work together at times and without a word would start laughing when we spotted a particular pickup truck that shouldn't have been on the road.
I admired Lori's tenacity balancing Clay's surgeries, her own health, work and her hubby. A great loss to her family, friends and profession.

Lori was an advocate for her patients as well as her nurses.
It is ama,ing how she carried on despite all of her medical problems.
She always had a smile on her face and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Rest in Peace Lori. You deserve it. You have tough shoes to fill.

Lori is one of the toughest, yet most gentle people I ever met. Never pretentious, always down to earth and friendly.
When they moved next door we were concerned our Bernie that loved to bark right at the corner of their house would be annoying. Later I leaned that Lori made them move their bedroom to that corner so she could see the dog!
The sunflowers will be planted every year for you Lori.
