I didn't know Bud Becker the way some others of you did, but I did want to extend my condolences to his family. Back in 1969 and until 1972, I was a reporter in my early twenties working in the Women's Department at The Star-Gazette in Elmira. In that capacity, I had the pleasure of working with Bud as we put together the daily newspaper. He was always very helpful to me and a joy to work with. His smile was so warm and friendly. My husband and I now live in Big Flats, but shortly after the Flood of '72, we moved to Connecticut. After that, we moved around quite a bit for my husband's job as a producer for CBS News until we retired and moved back to this beautiful area. Seeing Bud's picture and obituary in today's paper made me sad and brought back a flood of distant memories of our time working together. He was a very kind and nice man. I am keeping all of you in my prayers at this difficult time.

My condolences to the entire family. You guys were all like a second family to me. I remember growing up next door to all of you in Jackson Summit and the extended family that came to visit there at their Uncle Bud and Aunt Dee Dee's house. I remember all of the fun times at Becker's pond, sleep overs, camp outs in the camper at your house and when we went to the Delaware seashore, and who could forget our trip to Florida - especially the trip home - not able to find a hotel that had availability (so Mom had to try to sleep with sand in her bathing suit, in the car at a road side rest stop - she was not quiet about it). Mom and Delores insisting we go to Washington DC to see the cherry blossoms even though Bud had to drive the truck/camper into the DC traffic, only to get there and find out we were three weeks too late. I think that was the longest time Mom ever stayed quiet is the rest of that trip home from there. Then once we arrived home, Jon and his cousin Mike lit fireworks on the back step of our house and I ran to the camper to let our parents know there was a fire and Bud went running out with the fire extinguisher and ran right over the fireworks to the inside of the house thinking the entire house was on fire. A trip to never forget....
During their time staying in Florida, it was fun to get together with them from time to time, sitting with them trying to determine where to go out to eat, We would reminisce about good times, catching up on each other's families, and going to Tim and Karen's sons hockey games.
I don't know anyone who tracked the stock market like Bud did. He must have dreamed about stock market ticker tape scrolling across the screen in his sleep!
Bud was always so nice to us. Delores too. I know Bud won't be bored, since Delores has had over 10 years of time to put a list of things to do and where to go eat . Now he's there for them to enjoy. Have fun.
PS: Thanks to Barb and Nancy for taking care of Bud in his later years

Sad for me to say goodbye to my nephew Bud Becker who was like a brother to me. Even though he was 1 year older than me I was still his uncle. He used to laugh every time he called me" uncle".. We were raised together for many years on a farm in Granville Sumit (Cowley) along with his brother Dick. We had a great "sports" bond that lasted for years. Bud and I were on the same 1951 District IV State Champs for PA. We played for the Troy Trojans. Also on this amazing team was my other nephew Raymond Slingerland. Bud and I also played on the same baseball team from Troy. When I think of Bud my description would be friend, caring, thoughtful, witty, amazing handyman and all around GREAT GUY. My wife Judie and I enjoyed many good times with he and Dolores over the years. He always talked about his family and their success. Such a proud man for his family. We had the pleasure of visiting Bud last year (2022) at Barb Elders home where we were able to reminisce about the past and laugh a lot. Bud was able to contribute in the conversation. He will be terribly missed by so many people whose lives he touched. REST IN PEACE my wonderful nephew - Bud Becker. Ed and Judie Merritt of Chattanooga TN

Helen Bradshaw and I send our condolences to the Bud Becker family. Bud and Delores took great care of Helen over the years. I was fortunate to have met Bud and Delores and saw what a great couple and Bud was a great man. Loved by every child I saw him interact with. He was gracious, kind, caring and generous. A few years back when we couldn’t reach him we knew something happened. It turned out to be his dementia. We missed our Christmas call and trying to reach him on his birthday. Loved Bud and grateful that I had the pleasure of spending time with him, even though for me it was limited. Helen lost another great man from her life. Our prayers for all.
