Obituary of Jane Pfluger
Jane Lang Pfluger, age 78, of Mansfield, PA, died peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2008, following a massive stroke. Born on December 18, 1929 in Rochester, NY, she was the daughter of Ann and Walter Lang. On June 14, 1958, Jane married her beloved husband, Luther W. Pfluger. She took great joy in her family, creating a home filled with beauty and love. She graduated from West High School in Rochester and Texas Womens University in Denton, TX. She was an elementary school art teacher in Dallas, TX and Verona, NJ. Jane was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Elmira, NY, and a volunteer in community activities including the Mansfield Womens Chorus and Friends of Mansfield Public Library. She shared her love for flowers and her expertise as a gardener with her family and her many friends. She enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States and Europe. She is survived by her husband, Luther W. Pfluger, of Mansfield, PA; daughter, Karyn Pfluger of Rochester, NY, daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Michael Gorman, and grandsons Mitchell and Niell Gorman of Kaneohe, HI; sisters and brother-in-law, Corinne Smith of Denton, TX, and Joan and Robert Gresens of Rochester, NY; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Gordon and Linda Lang of Chicago, IL; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Lang of Wadsworth, IL, and Willie Mae Pfluger of Georgetown, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; several cousins; and a host of caring friends. Calling hours are Wednesday, May 7, 2008 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 South Main St., Mansfield, PA. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on May 8, 2008 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 226 South Walnut Street, Elmira, NY. Pastor Abigail Zang Hoffman of BethanyLutheran Church, and The Rev. Lance Robbins of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church (Webster, NY) will officiate. Interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pflugerville, TX. Flowers are gratefully declined and will be provided by the family.
