Obituary of M. Jean Barber
M. Jean (James Bowen) Barber, age 90, of Mansfield, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, excited to see Jesus face to face. She was born on September 24, 1931 in Scranton, PA, the daughter of Ivor and Lila (Tressler) James. Jean worked as a secretary at Keystone Community College, Mansfield State College, Mansfield High School, AZ Dept of Trans and was co-owner of Bowen's Hardware and Bowen's Trailer Court. Jean was a thankful member of Covington United Methodist Church who loved praying for others, encouraging people in person and online, traveling, bingo, playing slot machines with friends and BBQs with family.
Jean is survived and blessed by her sons, Barry Bowen and Larry Bowen of Mansfield, PA; and daughters, Deborah (Greg) Calkins of Mansfield, PA, and Laurie (Don) Frey of Cleveland, OH; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, June James of Vestal, NY. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ivor James, Jr., and Douglas James; and a grandson, Marc Calkins.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on May 24th at Covington United Methodist Church 2169 N. Williamson Rd. Covington, PA. Burial will take place in Evergreen/Woodlawn Cemetery in Factoryville, PA. Memorial donations may be made to the Covington United Methodist Church. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S.
