Obituary of Leonard Stanley Mahosky

Leonard S. Mahosky, age 89 of Blossburg PA, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022, at Broad Acres in Wellsboro, PA. He was born on January 29, 1933 in Blossburg, PA the son of Frank S. and Mary Agnes (Norczyk) Mahosky. On August 28, 1954, he married the love of his life, Rose Marie Boinske, at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Blossburg, PA, and they celebrated over 67 years of marriage. Leonard is survived his wife, Rose; five children — Leonard (Katherine) Mahosky of Flagstaff AZ, Cheryl (Tim) Kepp of Wellsboro PA, Mary (Thomas) Hilfiger of Hornell NY, David (Kelly) Mahosky of Chittenango NY and John (Sandy) Mahosky of Currie NC; nine grandchildren — Matthew Mahosky, Sean Mahosky, Adam Williams, Patrick Williams, Eric Hilfiger, Evan Hilfiger, Shane Mahosky, Mitchell Mahosky, and Rachel Mahosky, and three great grandchildren — Silas, Paisley and Mason Mahosky. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Margaret Morgan, brother-in-law Dale Morgan, sisters-in-law Martha Aston, Madge Mahosky, and Janice Linquist, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Leonard was predeceased by his parents, brothers Joseph and Martin, and sisters Theresa and Mary Ann. Leonard and his brother-in-law, Dale Morgan, owned M & M Lumber Company for several years. He also worked at the Victoria Movie Theater in Blossburg and was a foreman in the shipping department at JP Ward Foundry until his retirement in 1995. Leonard kept active during his retirement maintaining the St. Andrews cemetery. Leonard and his wife loved to travel, and almost annually for many years traveled across country to visit their son, Lenny, and his family. They traveled to every state, except for Florida. With their son John, and daughter in law Sandy, they enjoyed several trips to Hawaii and to the countries of Spain, Greece, Portugal, Gibraltar, Turkey, Morocco, and France. They also traveled to Alaska, accompanied by John and Sandy together with their daughter Cheri and her son Patrick. Leonard enjoyed going to the casino, spending time with his family, and was always there to lend a helping hand, especially on renovation projects for his children. He was a great neighbor to many, helping with mowing lawns and plowing snow. He also enjoyed sports and watching football and baseball, with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Atlanta Braves being his favorite teams. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. One year he and his sons spent a week together hunting deer, with each one fortunate enough to get a buck. Leonard was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Blossburg for many years, and later Holy Child Catholic Church of Mansfield, where he enjoyed calling Bingo numbers for many years. He was also a member of the Rod & Gun Club in Blossburg and served as Treasurer of the Williamson Road TV Company. Family and Friends are invited to call on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Buckheit Funeral Chapel, 637 South Main Street, Mansfield PA. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 1:00 PM, at the funeral home, with Rev. Bryan Wright officiating.
