Obituary of Alvin A. Starks
Alvin A. Starks, age 94, of Mansfield, PA, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at his home. Alvin was the husband of Leora O. (Colegrove) Starks. He was born December 8, 1913 in Manlius, NY, a son of Lloyd A. and Hazel (Cleveland) Starks. Alvin retired from Mansfield University where he was a security guard. He had been employed by Corning Glass in Wellsboro, PA, the A & P in Big Flats, NY, the Eclipse in Elmira Heights, NY, and Billards in Mansfield, PA. He also enjoyed farming. He was a member of the Cherry Flats Baptist Church.
Alvin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Leora; four sons, Gordon A. (Doreen) Starks of Loganton, PA, Donald E. (Beverly) Starks of Covington, PA, Roy F. (Eileen) Starks of Fredericksburg, TX, and John T. (Cheryl) Starks of Wellsboro, PA; two sisters, Audrey Harvey of Mansfield, PA and Thelma Wheeler of Rocksbury, NY; 13 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur Starks, Clair Rodgers, Merle Starks and Lloyd Minor Starks, and two grandchildren, Michael Roy and Bradley Starks.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 15, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. immediately following the viewing with Rev. Richard Krueger and Rev. James Hill officiating. Burial will be in Tioga County Memorial Gardens, Charleston Twp., Mansfield, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com
