Obituary of Helen Marie Bonniger

Helen Marie (Trautner) Bonniger of Mansfield, PA, died on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at the age of 90. She was born on April 11, 1931 in Germania, PA, a daughter of Frank and Velma (Hoppe) Trautner. Helen was a high school graduate from the Galeton High School. She worked many years at Galeton Production Company and had a couple other jobs before going to Corning Inc. where she retired from. She attended the Methodist Church in Cowanesque, PA for many years. She enjoyed reading, traveling, knitting, and crocheting. She crocheted baby blankets for all the babies born in the family and knitted and donated mittens to grade schools in the surrounding area. Most years that was around 300 pairs. She also made and delivered trach covers for the veterans at the VA Hospital in Bath, NY. she enjoyed traveling with family and friends. She visited almost every state in the US including Hawaii and Alaska. She also visited London, England and the Bahamas. Throughout the years her home was open to many. Helen is survived by two of her children, Westley (Lena) Bonniger of Mannford, OK; a daughter, Sherry (H. James) White of Tioga, PA; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Bonniger of Westfield, PA; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great great grandchild; a sister, Alice (Robert) Geiser of Galeton, PA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death her parents; two sons, Duane L. and Curtis G. Bonniger; two brothers, Frank and Andrew Trautner; and five sisters, Dorothy Shelley, Louise Schaeffer, Anna Michael, Nellie Everett, and Margaret Wacker. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Germania Cemetery. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA is assisting the family.
