Obituary of Martha Monica Jessup
Martha (Manikowski) Jessup, 98, died November 3, 2021, at her residence in Blossburg, PA. Born June 4, 1923, in Blossburg, Martha was the daughter of the late Louis and Margaret (Dreas) Manikowski. She was the wife of the late Thomas Jessup who passed five days previously. They celebrated their 78Th wedding anniversary in May 2021.
Martha worked in the Quality Control Department at Ward Foundry in Blossburg until she moved to Paramus, NJ, where she worked at CTSI Electronics until her retirement in 1983. Martha was a member of Holy Child Catholic Parish in Mansfield, PA. She was a lifetime member of the Hillside Rod & Gun Club, the Arnot Sportsmen's Club, and a social member of the Morris Run American Legion Post 167 which she often visited with her husband on Friday nights for dinner. Martha enjoyed camping, playing cards, bingo, visiting friends and family, and watching Yankee baseball.
Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas (Tux) and son Eugene. In addition, she was predeceased by her brothers Matthew, Louis, Marcion (Moe), Raymond, and Leo Manikowski, and her sisters Margie Payne, Monica Hughes, Angie Bubacz, and Marcella Soporowski. She leaves behind many nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends.
In honoring Martha's wishes there will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Holy Child Catholic Church in Mansfield, PA, with the Rev. Bryan Wright as celebrant followed by burial at St. Andrew's Cemetery Blossburg, PA. Martha's husband Tom will be laid to rest at the same time with full military honors.
