Obituary of Shirley W Benson

Shirley "Squirt" W. Benson, age 86, of Millerton, PA, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY. He was born on June 9, 1935 in Rutland Twp, a son of Otis and Myra (Griffin) Benson. Shirley was married to the late Betty (Seymour) Benson who passed away on February 9, 2017. He was a mechanic for A&P and Artistic Card Co. Shirley also drove school bus for 14 years. He was a member of Jackson Summit Baptist Church. Shirley enjoyed hunting, tinkering, and driving his Kubota. Shirley is survived by two daughters, Deborah Elaine Smith of Millerton, PA, and Wanda Lorraine (John) Sproule of Tioga, PA; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three brothers, Donald Benson of Mansfield, PA, Dean Benson of Covington, PA, and Ernest Benson of Millerton, PA; and two sisters, Marie (Richard) Smith of Pine City, NY, and Barbara Bailey of Daggett, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Friends and family are invited to call on Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 1-2pm at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will follow immediately at 2pm, with pastor Harold Burrell officiating. Burial will take place in Alder Run Cemetery. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com
