Wilford Heater was one of the foundational men in my life. A purveyor of common sense wisdom, he taught me how to work hard but also to enjoy life. He also had a mischievous side, like when he introduced me to buttermilk....yes, it's sour! I fondly remember him taking me raccoon hunting (a memory punctuated by Nancy's apple fritters), bailing hay (hay does not get done waiting on rain), going to the Camp (oh the trouble one can get into even in the darkest, most remote woods) and so much more. Those memories; those adventures; those life lessons have traveled the world with me. I wish I could have sat on that front porch one more time to hear his reassuring voice and infectious laugh. Godspeed Wilford!
