The past few weeks I have remembered a favorite professor who, in my first year at Mansfield in 1971made me feel at home. Memories of Tom Loomis filled my head and heart as I gazed at my brass belt buckle and unfinished spittoon that made Tom laugh and though it’s been nearly 50 years since I left his studio and 2 years since his passing, I know love is eternal because I knew Tom Loomis. May we meet again, Professor.

I'm sorry to post this now, but I just learned about Mr.Loomis's passing. He was my professor at Mansfield University 20 some years ago, and his kindness and support helped me survive the first two years of college as an international student. He assisted me all through the transfer process into an art school in Boston afterward. Without him I wouldn't be an artist today. I have been thinking about him a lot lately, and finally searched his name on google. I really wish I did this sooner, and sent him a letter of my appreciation. My deepest condolences to his family. He was a great teacher with a big heart. - Chihiro Makio
