Obituary of Patricia VanNess
Patricia (Bennett) VanNess, age 89, of Covington, PA, formerly of Wellsboro, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Broad Acres Nursing Home in Wellsboro. She was born on February 2, 1931 in Addison, NY, a daughter of Clive and Doris (Johnson) Bennett. Patricia was married to Arland R. VanNess who passed away on January 30, 2011. She worked at Corning Glass and was a member of Wellsboro Bible Church. Her priority was family and God, and she was a prayer warrior. Patricia was a loving mother and made her children's clothing. She enjoyed camping and playing games with her grandchildren. Patricia loved babies and baking cinnamon buns. She also sewed several wedding gowns and baked and decorated wedding cakes.
Patricia is survived by her sons, Jerry (Karen) VanNess, Terry VanNess, and Larry (Margaret) VanNess all of Wellsboro, PA; five daughters, Bonnie (Edward) Nowak of Wellsboro, PA, Diane (Travis) Snyder of Wellsboro, PA, Judy (Larry) Tarbox of Wellsboro, PA, Robbie (Marty) Kilmer of Catawissa, PA, and Jacqueline (Gerald) Burton of Harrisburg, PA; seventeen grandchildren; and thirty one great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter; a son, Roger James VanNess; two brothers; and three sisters.
A private funeral service will take place at Wellsboro Bible Church with Pastor TJ Freeman officiating. Burial will take place in Welsh Settlement Cemetery in Wellsboro, PA. A public celebration of life will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA. Due to her devotion to Child Evangelism, memorial contributions can be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship, 16 Charleston St. Wellsboro, PA 16901.
