Obituary of Charles H. Hurlbert

Charles H. Charlie Henry Hurlbert, age 88, of Painted Post, NY, died Friday, December 5, 2008 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. Charles was born December 7, 1919 in Gaines, PA, a son of Walter and Daisy (Ronalder) Hurlbert. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in WWII. Charles was a former member of the VFW, the Moose, and the American Legion. He was employed by the Elkland Tannery and Corning Glass before his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. Charles is survived by two sisters, Charlotte Bump of Wellsboro, PA, and Roberta Lappa of Lawrenceville, PA. He was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Clara Greene, Edith Short, Mary Valentine, Ronald Hurlbert, Walter Hurlbert, Jr., and a special friend, Alice Monroe. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, December 13, 2008 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 South Main St., Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, immediately following the visitation at 3:00 P.M. with the Rev. Richard Berg officiating.
