Obituary of Richard Walter Dennis, Sr.

Richard "Dick" Walter Dennis, Sr., age 78, of Knoxville, PA, peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at The Green Home in Wellsboro, PA. He was born on December 27, 1941 in Knoxville, PA, a son of Walter Alonzo and Rosalee (Preston) Dennis. Dick grew up on the farm of Hugh and Helen Baker and thought of them as family. He was a carpenter by trade for decades, an avid hunter, and a member of the Elkland Moose. Dick enjoyed reading the newspaper, visiting cemeteries, and spending time with his buddies, Bob Gehman, Randy Doan, and John and Mary Robbins at Willie's Bar and Grill in Osceola, PA. Dick is survived by his children whom he loved dearly, Richard Walter (Flordeles) Dennis, Jr. of Palm Bay, FL, Audrey Lynn (Timothy) Ward of Cammal, PA, Maxine Marie (Dann) Newberry of Knoxville, PA, and Darlene Elaine Dennis of Spring Lake, NC; six grandchildren, Danielle, Nicole, Lesley, Daniel, Shelly, and Kyle; nine great grandchildren; and a brother, Walter (Laverna) Dennis, Jr. of Lyons, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Howard Dennis, and Gale Ross; and a sister, Aldine Bolen. In honoring Dick's wishes, there will be no services. Memorial contributions can be made to the SPCA Animal Care Sanctuary, 11765 Route 6, Wellsboro, PA 16901. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery in Knoxville, PA. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA is assisting the family.
