Obituary of Alta Miller
Alta (Heatley) Miller, age 78, formerly of Liberty, PA, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at The Green Home in Wellsboro where she brought joy and laughter to both the residents and the workers. She was born on September 18, 1942 in Morris, PA, a daughter of Edwin and Norma (Broughton) Heatley. Alta was married to the late Dean A. Miller. She worked as a seamstress for Wundies Inc. Alta loved puzzles and had put over 30 together. She also loved helping out and playing bingo. She would want us to thank The Green Home staff. Alta and her husband were members of Corey Creek Golf Course and most of their spare time was spent there. She really missed Dean and golfing. Before Alta lost motor skills, she enjoyed crocheting and created the most beautiful Afgans. Alta loved her family and had a zest for life even when it took unexpected turns. We will miss her smiling face and her ability to make us feel better about ourselves. She was the "BEST" sister and faithful copilot and best friend of her sister, Leah. Her canine companion was her pug, Ralphie whom she loved very much.
Alta is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Miller of Williamsport, PA, Deborah Miller of Williamsport, PA; one granddaughter, Heather Lynn Hockenberry; three brothers, Ronald (Carlene) Heatley of FL, Robert (Beverly) Heatley of Roaring Branch, PA, and Richard (Charity) Heatley of Liberty, PA; a sister, Leah Kelly of Liberty; a sister-in-law, Susan Heatley of Liberty, PA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, John A. Heatley; and a son, James A. Miller.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice. Burial will take place in East Point Cemetery in Liberty, PA. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA is assisting the family.
