Obituary of Jon C. Wheeler
Jon C. Wheeler, age 77, of Tioga, PA died on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the Green Home in Wellsboro, PA. Jon was born on November 12, 1943 in Wellsboro, PA, a son of Gordon and Bertha (Starkweather) Wheeler. He was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn K. Wheeler on January 1, 2009.
Jon began his working career as a farmer before becoming employed as a schoolteacher in the Painted Post, NY and Williamson, PA schools. He taught Adult Education classes at Mansfield University and Corning Community College. Jon was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, past president of the Tioga Boro Council, enjoyed his 35 years' service manning the food booth for the Mansfield Fourth of July celebration and 12 years' participation with Tioga Old Home Days.
Jon is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law Jon G. Wheeler of Tioga, PA, Kirk and Jill Wheeler of Middlebury Center, PA, and Alan and Aleta Wheeler of Lynnville, IN; two daughters and sons-in-law Jennifer and Adam Kerstetter of Millerton, PA, and Krista and Jeremy Hotelling of Layton, UT; two stepsons and stepdaughter-in-law Donald Davy of Addison, NY and Thomas and Donna Davy of East Ridge, TN; stepdaughter Michelle Koss of Chesterfield, VA; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister Marilyn and Gerald Gee of Cherry Flats, PA. In addition to his wife, Marilyn, he was also predeceased by two brothers William A. and Gordon L. Wheeler.
A private funeral service will be held at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Burial will take place in the Cherry Flats Methodist Cemetery.
