Obituary of John Artis Peacock
John Artis Art Peacock, age 83, of Wellsboro, PA, died on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Samaritan House in Wellsboro. Art was born on January 2, 1925 in Woodstown, NJ, the son of Anna (Seagraves) Peacock. He was married to Julia (Parmelee) Peacock.
Prior to his retirement, Art was a drug and alcohol counselor and case worker in Philadelphia, PA., Kennett Square PA, Havre de Grace, MD and Tioga Co., PA. He was a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of PA and a 60 year member of the Paulsboro and Swedesboro Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 157 in Paulsboro, New Jersey.
In addition to his wife, Julia, Art is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Roy and Phyllis Peacock of Newark, DE, Brett Peacock of Wilmington, DE, Gary Peacock of Nanticoke, PA, and daughterin-law Susan Peacock, wife of deceased son Jay Peacock; one stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Craig and Carole Owen of Ellicott City, MD; two stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Marcia and Roger Clark of Fairfield, CT, Carolyn and Timothy Pickering of West Plains, MO; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 130 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA, with Pastor Glenn Hallead officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Arts name to Samaritan House, 3 Morgan Terrace, Wellsboro, PA, 16901. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jacquelyn A.
