Obituary of Timothy J. Cope

Timothy J. Cope, age 65, of Tioga, PA, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at his home. He was born on February 13, 1955 in Mahoning Township, a son of Howard James and Beverly Jane (Hess) Cope. Timothy and his wife, Patsy Elaine (Bennett) Cope, celebrated 40 years of marriage on May 24, 2020. He graduated from Berwick High School where he played tuba in the band. Timothy also graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in computer science heuristics and a masters from New Orleans Theological Seminary. He became an ordained American Baptist minister and served several churches and nursing homes. Timothy loved mystery movies, shows, and books, Dr. Who, Star Trek, games, spending time with his family (Noah, Kilmer, Ashton, Garret). He also loved spending time with his friends Morris, Lapinski, and Butrej. Timothy is survived by his wife, Patsy; a son, Noah Cope of Tioga; mother-in-law, Julia Keller Bennett of GA; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen (Thomas II) Clay of GA, and Latina (Ian) Brown of OR; nieces and nephews, Jonnie (Aaron), Ethan, Katrina, Rachel (Anthony), and Thomas III; his brother, David Cope of NC; his nephew, Matthew (Anna) Cope of NC; and a great nephew, Carter Cope. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Glenn Aaron Bennett; and a sister-in-law, Karen Cope. A remembrance dinner will be announced at a later date.
