My belated condolences to Phyllis and Terry . I went to Mansfield for a summer music program in 1981 and met John outside cutting the lawn one afternoon. We started up a friendship that lasted many years and when I got married drove down from Kitchener ,Ontario to introduce them to my wife Kathy . We visited many times when we could but eventually lost touch with them. I'm so sad to only just have learned about his passing as we were going to make a trip to Mansfield and try to reconnect. Rest in peace John , you were a wonderful man who lived your life with the utmost integrity . Much love from Craig and Kathy Munshaw from Dashwood ,Ontario , Canada.

My name is Jim McGreehan. As I write this I am deeply saddened because I just tried to reach out to John after years of absence. I went to Mansfield State college back in 1979 and met John in the gymnasium locker room. Actually I have very fond memories of our first meeting and picture us in the dry sauna chatting and that is where I started to work for John on weekends at his horse farm. His infectious engaging personality, to say the least, was very inspirational.
I soon met his family and his wonderful wife Phyllis and young son Terry. At the time I was a young impressionable sophomore searching for a passion in my life. John had inspired me through his passion for horses. He also inspired me in other ways concerning relationships. He was an amazing man from what I knew of him. About 20 years ago he came down to visit me in the Williamsburg area on a camping trip.
I am deeply saddened over his passing and pray for his family. But I also celebrate the man that left such a positive impression on me and inspired me so much.

Sad to hear about John's passing- what a fine man, husband, father and friend ! And a hard worker! I remember how hard he worked for dad- Bob Messinger- at TW Judge Co.- dad always knew he could count on him! And Phyllis- you, too were a favorite of dad's, always with a smile on his many visits to the bank. Blessings to you and Terry as you move forward! Lee M. Stearns

Hi Phyllis,
I am so saddened to learn of John's passing. He was a wonderful person and looking back now, I don't know how we put up with all the headaches we threw at him at the fraternity. He had a lot of patience with us and was always supportive regardless what mess we created for him. I can imagine he must have told you lots of great stories about all of our mischief! We had so much fun back then but with no bad intent. John "fuzzy" Estep was a good role model and helped us all grow up just a little during a time in our lives when rules were few, people really cared about each other, and life was less complicated.
I cherish all of my time spent with John and you. It was like a family back then and it still feels the same today.

My condolences to Phyllis and Terry. John was such a great guy to know and to be around. Such a friendly and giving man. He took me under his wing during my freshman year (1987) at MU and mentored me just as much as being a true friend. Many great memories I have of John, Phyllis and Terry welcoming me into their home and including me in all their activities. Fond memories of the Equestrian Club, lots of dinners, horse rides and time well spent together.
May his soul rest in peace and may Phyllis and Terry continue to be blessed with having had such a great husband and father. I know that I am a better man for having known John Estep. God bless.

We're still in shock that John is gone. He was friendly, smart, curious and creative, and always there when anyone needed help. He was one of our best friends and we're going to deeply miss him.
