Obituary of Virginia (Smith) Stephens

Virginia H. Stephens, 92, a lifelong resident of Millerton, Pa. and in her later years of Tioga, Pa. passed away on December 18th 2019 at The Bradford Manor. Born on January 14, 1927, she was the daughter of Helen and Rexford Smith. On October 17, 1945 she married Emmett Ira Stephens who predeceased her on February 21, 2009. Virginia was a graduate of Millerton High School and worked at Remington Rand, Woolworths, and Westinghouse over the years. Her main interest in life was her family – beloved husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She and Emmett spent many years as active members of the Millerton Methodist Church and as community volunteers. They enjoyed family camping, bowling, and spent many happy winters in Apache Junction, AZ. She enjoyed time with friends, was an excellent cook, seamstress, and made many beautiful quilts her family will remember her by. She is survived by her daughter Rita (Derwood) Say, and her son Ronald (Joyce) Stephens; her grandchildren Kristi (Sean) Beggs, Aaron (Nicole) Stephens, Lindsay Stephens, and David (Sonia) Beatty; her great-grandchildren Gabriella, Gracie, and Joelanna Stephens, and Kylie and Rachel Beggs. In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was predeceased by her brother Delbert, her sisters Irene and Evelyn, and dearly loved grandson Joel Stephens. Services will be at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, Pa. January 18th, 2020. Visitation will be from 11:00-12:00 followed by a funeral service. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery Tioga, Pa. Our family wants to extend a special Thank You to the staff at Bradford Manor for their care and support. Memorial contributions may be made to the Millerton Methodist Church or the Millerton Wesleyan Church.
