Obituary of George Howard DeFrain
George Howard DeFrain, II, age 78, of Wellsboro, PA, died on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at his home. Born on March 22, 1929 in Collomsville, PA, he was the son of Clarence and Olive (Bixel) DeFrain. George was married to Beverly (McConnell) DeFrain.
Prior to his retirement, George was employed for 9 years with Avco Lycoming in Williamsport and 20 years with Mergenthaler Linotype in Wellsboro, PA. He was the recipient of a diploma in Modern Criminal Investigation from MCI. He was a member of the American Legion in Williamsport, PA, and a charter member of the 40 and 8th Club. During the Korean War, he served as a Sgt. with the U.S. Marine Corps. He enjoyed his family, his tractor, yardwork, gardening and polishing his car.
In addition to his wife, Beverly, George is survived by two sons, George DeFrain of Wellsville, PA, Chris DeFrain and his partner Dwayne Heisler of Catawissa, PA; a daughter, Fern and her husband Stephen Reichard of Morris, PA; a brother-in-law, Chester Schramm of Hurley, NY; a sister-in-law, Myrtle Huston of Smyrna, GA; three grandchildren, Jennifer DeFrain, Kayla Goodreau and Alissa Goodreau; four nieces, a nephew; great nieces and nephews; and his special pet, Oscar.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, January 31, 2008 from 4 to 6 PM at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 South Main Street, Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours at 6 PM at the funeral home.
