Obituary of Mary Lou Townsend

Mary Lou Townsend, age 91, of Mansfield, PA, died Wed., September 24, 2008, at the Green Home, Wellsboro, PA. Mary Lou was born December 31, 1916 in Houghton, PA, a daughter of Philip and Robbie Morris (Key) Farrer. She was a retired Special Ed teacher for Wellsboro Blast Unit. Mary Lou was married to the late Arthur Townsend, Jr. She was a lifetime member of the Mansfield V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and was a past president. She enjoyed reading, bowling, gardening, flowers, cooking, and spending time with her family. Mary Lou is survived by four sons, Arthur Townsend, Jr. of Springfield, VA, Steven (Nancy) Townsend of Overland Park, KS, Richard (Frances) Townsend of Severn, MD, Neil Townsend and his companion, Floss Ralston of Mansfield, PA; three daughters, Phylis Townsend of Corning, NY, Sandra Hammeken of Tampa, FL, Lorraine Townsend of Mansfield, PA; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Iloe Farrer of Mansfield, PA. Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Townsend, Jr, and a brother, John Farrer. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA with her granddaughter, Elizabeth Townsend officiating.
