Obituary of Gwladys E. Scott
Gwladys (Lent) Chubb Scott, age 103, from Troy passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019. She was born on January 27, 1916 in Rome PA, the daughter of Pearl I. Lent and Gertrude (Collingwood) Lent. Gwladys was the wife of the late Dewey Chubb who died in 1973 and the late Russell Scott who died in 1987. She graduated with a Secretarial Degree from the Ballard School in New York. Gwladys was employed at the Martha Lloyd School for 31 years. She was active in the Rebekahs and a lifetime member of the Eastern Star. She was also a counselor with Stephen Ministries. Gwladys loved going to church. She would sometimes attend 3 services on one Sunday. Gwladys received the Allen F. Pierce award in 1995 in recognition of her dedicated years of service to the women of the Martha Lloyd School. In her younger years she was the secretary to "Dr. Guthrie" at Robert Packer Hospital.
Gwladys is survived by her daughter Rhonda (Steve) Krobath; step daughters Marge Burgess, Susan (Andy) Gee and Debbie (John) Eichelberger; grandsons Michael (Anne), James (Amy), and Eric (Shay) Elkins, 17 step grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; nieces Elaine, Elizabeth, Marilynn and Virginia. She was preceded in death by her sister Iva Davis in 2002, step daughter Jean Harris and step son Leonard Chubb.
Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 10:00 am to noon at the Sylvania Presbyterian Church, Rte 6, Sylvania, PA. A service will immediately follow at noon. Burial will take place at the Rome Cemetery in Rome, PA. Services are under the direction of Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 637 S. Main St, Mansfield, PA 16933.
