Obituary of William H. Gitchell
William H. Gitchell, of Lawrenceville, PA, passed away January 14, 2019 at home, at the age of 89. He was born on March 3, 1929 in Wellsboro, PA, a son of William A. and Ruth (Covert) Gitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Gitchell and Ruth Root brother Robert Gitchell of Corning and the love of his life, Jacqueline (Saunders) Gitchell, whom he was married to for almost 50 years.
He is survived by four daughters, Deborah (Edward) Woodruff of Tioga, PA, Theresa (James) Thomas of Tioga, PA, Sharon (Kevin) McWhorter of Millerton, PA, Jacqueline (Kevin) Erickson of Lawrenceville, PA; a son, Chris (Christine) Gitchell of Mansfield, PA; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.
Bill was a Korean War Veteran having served in the US Army. He was employed at Mergenthaler in Wellsboro, PA for over 25 years, followed by employment at LRC Electronics in Horseheads, NY. He then owned and operated his own business, WilliamSon Products, until he retired. Throughout his life he enjoyed many years of farming.
In keeping with his wishes, friends and family are invited to attend a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 10AM at Holy Child Catholic Church, 242 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA with Rev. Bryan Wright as celebrant. A luncheon will be held following the services. Burial will be held in Wellsboro Cemetery, Wellsboro, PA. The family will provide the flowers. Memorial contributions may be made the Holy Child Catholic Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S.
