Obituary of James H. Thorne
James Thorne, age 81 of Wellsboro, PA, passed away December 25, 2018 at Broad Acres Nursing Home, Wellsboro, PA. Born on February 13, 1937 in Morgantown, WV, James was a son of Clarence and Ruby (Jones) Thorne. James was employed as a construction worker/welder who helped build the Liberty school, Broad Acres Nursing Home and the Tioga Dam. He enjoyed playing country western and bluegrass music, stock car and demolition derby racing, gardening, and hunting. He was a veteran of the Air Force during peacetime.
James is survived by his wife Crystle (Monroe) Thorne; daughter Wendy (Gene) Stevens of Ulysses, PA; son David (Joan) Meyers of Gettysburg, PA; daughter Terri Fair of East Berlin, PA; brother Aaron Thorne of Galeton, PA; sisters Barbara McNeill of Osceola, PA and Betty Inghram of Haines City, FL; sister in-law Pat Thorne of Galeton; 4 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 8 step great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. James was preceded in death by his parents, brother Art Thorne of Westfield, PA, brothers-in-law John McNeill and David Inghram, and sister-in-law Bessie Paul.
