I was so sorry to hear of Dicks passing. I knew him since I was a little girl . I use to pass him doing some work outside on the Gaylord Street side of the store (our home was a short distance up the street from the store).
I have many fond memories of not only Dick but Jim and their parents.
What a loss Wyalusing must have felt when the Jacksons moved out of town!

I extend my sincere sympathy to all the family. Dick welcomed me into the Mansfield Methodist Church each time I saw him there and he was always so friendly. What a nice guy he was. I didn't realize until I read his obituary and the obituary of the basketball coach from my home town school this week (Oxford Area High School, Oxford, PA, Ken Howett, 82 years old) that it was those two teams that were in the playoff in 1969 for the state title but in the end Mansfield won! Ironic that they both died within a day of each other and had competed against each other back then and that both were inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame for their areas.
I hope that the many fond memories of happier days will soon replace your sorrow.
Sincerely,
Mary Anne Reisler

I can't begin to describe what an impact this man had on my life, and on the lives of so many of my classmates. In short, he inspired us to be better human beings, whether it was accomplished in the classroom, on the court or out in the world at large. His sagacity and quick wit were ever-present, as was his wry smile...hallmarks of the character he exhibited in nearly every interaction I can remember. In every sense of the phrase, he made the world a better place and he always challenged his students to "do the right thing." I'm so glad to have known him and so incredibly grateful to have a wealth of memories of which he was a part. RIP, Coach.

I didn't know Dick well, but in the brief times I was able to spend with him I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations. Dick was my wife's (Betsy) uncle. I remember over 20 years ago sending him some potatoe 'starters' for his garden from here in the northwest. I enjoyed his sense of humor and ease of talking with anyone. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

This man was such an inspiration in my life. Best coach anyone could ask for. He taught me about hard work, dedication and commitment. He inspired me to be my best. He had high expectations of his players which taught me to have high expectations of myself in every facet of life. He was the guy you wanted to please and make proud because he put so much into coaching. He was supportive and encouraging; he made it fun and really built a little family out of his team.
He was also an amazing, patient school teacher.
I feel lucky to have grown up 2 doors down from this wonderful man. What a great neighbor! Spent many days playing with the puppies in your back yard, playing ping pong in your basement, shooting hoops in your driveway, and swinging on your porchswing. Dolores, you and Dick are like family. I will always and forever remember his smile and laughter. Such a loss. He will be greatly missed by all those he touched.
The definition of a role model. No doubt.
I know he is at peace with God.

Mr. Jackson was an excellent basketball coach! I’ll never forget when we “The Lady Tigers” won a game using 1 - 3 - 1 offense that coach initiated It literally was a game changer and my heart still smiles today with this VICTORY even after some 27 years later. My prayers are with the family of Mr. Jackson at this time of great loss.
