Obituary of Theodore Harry Smith
Theodore H. Smith, of Franklinville, NY, formerly of Horseheads, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Chemung Co. Nursing Facility. He was born on September 7, 1928 in Elmira, NY, a son of Harry S. and Emma (Zimdahl) Smith. Theodore was the husband of the late Mary Jane (Warters) Smith who died in 2006. Prior to his retirement Theodore was a Foreman/Welder for US Steel (American Bridge) in Elmira Heights, NY. He enjoyed playing cribbage, sailing and also loved cars. Theodore was a WWII US veteran having served in the US Navy.
He is survived by three daughters, Penny L. (Joseph Hoodak) Elliott of Franklinville, NY, Bonny L. Martin of Corning, NY, Annette L. (David) Butler of Apple Valley, CA; four grandchildren, Jessica (Mark Sprayberry) Elliott and Jason Elliott, Jennifer Martin, Mariah Butler; three great grandchildren, Ashley Pabis, John Pabis, Madeline Bieber-Elliott; two great great grandchildren, Natalie VanNess, Lewis Koratsis; two brothers, Richard (Mary Frances) Smith of Big Flats, NY, Gary Smith of Big Flats, NY; a sister-in-law, Joann Warters (James) Bottcher of St. Mary's, GA; two sisters, Loretta Beebe of Cleveland, OH, Nancy (Larry) Drake of Sequim, WA. He was preceded in death by his wife and two sisters, Marjorie Lovejoy and Gertrude Henkle.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 2PM at the Woodlawn National Cemetery, 1825 Davis St, Elmira, NY 14901. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to Bath VA Voluntary Service Travel/Needy Beneficiary Account #1405, 76 Veterans Ave. Bath NY 14810 Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S.
