Obituary of Margaret Elizabeth Carleton
Margaret E. "Peggy" (Clark) Carleton, age 94, of Mansfield, PA, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Broad Acres. She was born on March 16, 1923 in Breezewood, PA, a daughter of Charles and Clara "Helen" (Salkeld) Clark. Margaret was the wife of the late Robert L. Carleton. She and her husband built and owned and operated the Seven Dwarfs Motel in Tioga, PA; she was employed at the Remington Rand for 30 years and also the Wellsboro Commonwealth Bank. Margaret was a member of the First Baptist Church and the American Baptist Women's Association. She was active in Child Evangelism in Wellsboro, PA for many years.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Carole Scureman of Mansfield, PA; five grandchildren, Cheryll (John) Mortimer, Shelley (Mike) Smith, Chanda (David) Fritz, Shane Belknap, Brett Bliss; 9 great grandchildren; 11 great- great grandchildren; a sister, Betty M. Wilt of Breezewood, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; a daughter, Sherry H. Pardoe; two brothers, Dean E. Clark, Donald Clark; a twin sister Marjorie Swanson; a brother-in-law Art Swanson; two sons- in-law, Boyd Belknap, C. Haines Scureman.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 2PM to 4PM at the Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4PM with Debbie Button and Harry Colegrove officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
