Obituary of Marjorie L. Close

Marjorie L. Close, age 97, of Troy, formerly of Morris, PA, died on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Broad Acres. She was born on August 3, 1920 in Rushville, NY, a daughter, of Fred and Mabel (Kohler) Broughton. Marjorie was the wife of the late John C. Close, Jr., who died on March 25, 2000. She was member of the Morris United Methodist Church. Marjorie ran the school cafeteria in Gillett, PA, was a cook at the Tioga Co. Jail, and worked at Clarence Baxter's Bakery. She enjoyed gardening.

Marjorie is survived by a son, Jack Close of Penn Yan, NY; a daughter, Constance Putnam of Troy, PA; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchild; two brothers, Donald (Sharon) Broughton of Lawrenceville, PA, Kenneth (Paula) Broughton of Gillett, WY. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; a son, George Close; a daughter, Jeanne Butler; five brothers and sisters, Jen, Vernon, Jim, Chuck, and Fred.

In keeping with Marjorie's wishes there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, 57 N Franklin St, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701 or Charity of one's choice.
