Obituary of Harold L. DeWalt
Harold Lloyd DeWalt passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at his home after having a debilitating stroke at the end of October. He was surrounded by family, and, since he'd come home on December 1st, had been taken care of by family until his passing. Born June 3, 1932 to Robert Aaron and Anna Sabella (Kale) DeWalt in Easton, PA., he was 85.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Merylene (Wright) DeWalt and their 8 children: Sandra (Steven) Pettitt, Lloyd (Melissa) DeWalt, Wanda (William) Hart, Douglas (Cheryl) DeWalt, Ricky (Nadina) DeWalt, Randy (Kathy) DeWalt, Nancy (Chad) Bills, and Raymond (Mary) DeWalt. He is also survived by many step-great-grandchildren and spouses and/or significant others along with their children. Harold spent his life farming and working at Kennedy Valve in Elmira, NY.
In his later years, you could find him at the square dances at the Whitneyville (Tioga County) Fairgrounds the first Saturday of every month throughout the winter months. Also, in the winter, he could be found in the kitchen on the second Saturday of the month, making scrapple for the family and anyone outside the family who decided they'd like some. He also enjoyed deer hunting and looked forward to it like a little kid looks forward to Christmas. Sadly, his stroke didn't allow him to hunt this year and he was missed by all the family who hunted with him.
