Obituary of Roland C. Delmotte
On December 14, 2017 Roland C. Delmotte, 87, of Tioga, PA passed away suddenly at his home. Roland was born in Centerline MI on Oct 18, 1930. He grew up in Roseville, MI until 1947 when he joined the Navy, became a radioman, advancing to the rank of Chief. He married his wife of 65 years Beverly C. Suback of Charleston, SC in 1952. Roland worked as a Cryptologist at the NSA achieving certifications as a Professional Signal and Collection Analyst until his retirement in 1974.
He and his family relocated from Glen Burnie, MD to Tioga, PA where Roland built his home, and raised beef cattle and tended a large garden. Throughout his life, Roland was active in the community local government, Sister Cities Organization, The Red Cross, Naval Cryptological Association, and was always there to help his friends and neighbors. Roland was a hardworking, disciplined, loyal, strong, honest, dedicated and purposeful man.
He is survived by his wife Beverly, son Mark (Kathy), Scott (Theresa), daughter Camille (Maria), daughter in law Janet Delmotte, and 4 granddaughters Christina, Kelsey, Makenzie, and Sarah. He is preceded in death by his brother Lawrence and his oldest son Stephen, who passed away in April 2017. His sister Patricia Chownyk lives in Roseville, MI.
Mass intentions have been offered in Roland’s memory at Holy Child Catholic Church in Mansfield, PA. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life anytime between 1:00 – 4:00 PM on January 6, 2018 at the Whitneyville fairgrounds building; Light refreshments will be served. Funeral and burial will be private family services. The family is grateful for your calls and visits and thankful to so many who enhanced Roland’s life.
