Obituary of Shirley DeBockler
Shirley DeBockler, age 82, of Tioga, PA, passed away on November 1, 2017 at Corning Hospital. She was born on July 21, 1935 in Rahway, NJ, a daughter of Charles and Martha Brandt. Shirley was the wife of the late Charles F. DeBockler who passed in 2013, they celebrated 58 years of marriage. She was a nurse's aide for the Carleton Nursing Home and the Green Home. She also owned and operated her own personal care home in Wellsboro. Shirley enjoyed knitting, she was even known to knit in her sleep; baking, cooking, an excellent seamstress, and talented wool spinner. She donated many of her handmade items to different hospitals for premature babies and also helmet liners for soldiers. Shirley enjoyed going to the Finger Lakes and attending concerts and events at the Deane Center in Wellsboro.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Scot DeBockler of Jefferson, GA, Todd and Mary DeBockler of Wellsboro, PA; two daughters, Robin Crocker of Decatur, GA, Wendy Ilg, Las Alamos, NM; ten grandchildren, Zack DeBockler, grandson and her caregiver, Rachel, Samantha, Nathan, Christopher, Dawn, Scotty, Lindsay, Ryan and Angus DeBockler; special great grandchildren, Ayanna, Clarissa, Annabelle, several other great grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death her husband, Charles; two sons-in-law, Thomas Ilg and Gerald Crocker; a granddaughter, Jennifer; two great grandsons, Bryce DeBockler, Tristian Beckman.
