Obituary of Veronica Griffitts
Veronica (Harzinski) Griffitts, age 90, of Wellsboro, PA, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Green Home. She was born on December 4, 1926 in Arnot, PA, a daughter of Andrew and Mary (Luke) Harzinski. Veronica was the wife of the late Willey Griffitts. Veronica and her first husband Richard Bates owned and operated Bates Restaurant in Tioga. Veronica was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tioga, Holy Child in Mansfield, and St. Joseph's in Florida when she resided there. She enjoyed baking, cooking, playing cards and attending church.
Veronica is survived by a son, Barry (Brenda) Bates of Tioga, PA; a daughter, Susan (Keith) Bly of Wellsboro, PA; 6 grandchildren, Ryan, Fawn, Danielle, Saira, Travis, Miranda; 14 great grandchildren, Taylor, Joel, Emmy, Brett, Cade, Kryshtian, Kaedin, Reagan, Olivia, Lukas, Easton, Mila, Nova, Gage; a brother, Ray (Shelva Jean) Harzinksi of Blossburg, PA; two sisters, Eleanor Dahlgren of Mansfield, PA, Ernestine Dieffenbach of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Bates; her second husband, Willey Griffitts; a daughter, Judy Ann Bates; a grandson, Gary Bates; a granddaughter, Tanya Carpenter; three brothers, Joe (Stacia) Harzinski, Ed Harzinksi and Floyd and Isabelle Harzinski.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 5 PM to 7PM at the Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will immediately follow at 7PM with Pastor Debra Button officiating.
