Obituary of Hazel Alice Wilston
In loving memory of Hazel Alice (Purvis) Wilston (Aunt Saw-See) of Tioga, PA, age 74, who died Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.
She was born December 19, 1932 in Canoe Camp, PA, the daughter of the late Faye and Ruth (Murray) Purvis. She graduated from Williamson High School in 1951.
Hazel previously owned and operated the Bush House in Tioga, PA and was a waitress at numerous establishments in Tioga County, where her customers came from miles around to see her smiling face.
Among her pastimes were cooking, baking bread and making deserts, dancing, upholstering, playing pinochle and being a grandmother. She was a member of the Arnot Sportsmens Club in Arnot, PA.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Amy Wilston of Tioga, PA and grand-daughter Elizabeth Wilston of Tioga, PA, special niece, Jerry Lee Degliequi, mother-in-law, Winifred Wilston, long time companion, Ramon Short, sisters Wilda Carleton, Wellsboro; Doris George, Daytona Beach, FL; Virginia Holcomb, Liberty and Joan Heck, Tioga. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, as well as a host of friends.
She was predeceased by husband Donald Wilston; sisters Eleanor Tremaine, Nell Osterhoudt, Ruth Brown, Betty Edwards and brother Clifford (Butch) Purvis.
Friends and family are invited to call on Sunday July 22, 2007 from noon to 3PM at Jacquelyn Buckheit Funeral Chapel, 637 Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will be held immediately following the viewing at 3 PM at the funeral home with the Rev. John Shypulefski officiating.
