Obituary of Karen B. Bates
Karen B. Bates, age 69, of Mansfield, PA passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. She was born on August 18, 1947 in New Britain, CT a daughter of Edward and Cecilia (Domijan) Tocionis. Karen was the wife of Stanley Bates and they shared 50 years of marriage. She had been a farmer with her husband for 50 years, employed in the office for the Governor of CT and later a school bus driver for Southern Tioga School District for 34 years. Karen was an avid bowler, she managed the junior bowling, a member of the Garden Club, was an avid gardener, enjoyed needle point, reading and caring for her grandchildren,
Karen is survived by her husband, Stanley; a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Lisa Bates of Mainesburg, PA; two daughters and sons in-law, Amy and Frederick Bolt Jr. of Mansfield, PA, Heather and Adam Hubbard of Sussex, NJ; six grandchildren, Erik Bolt, Trevor Bolt, Felicia Bolt, Carmen Bates, Daniel Bates, and Colten Hubbard; three sisters, Linda Carrier of Leominister, MA, Shirley Leverton of Middletown, CT, Lucy Cannamela of New Britain, also many brothers- in law- and sisters- in- laws, nieces and nephews.
Services will be private at the Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA., with Rev. Bryan Wright officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Breast Health Center, 1100 Grampian Blvd, Williamsport, PA 17701. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com
