Obituary of Joseph L. Mattis
Joseph L. Mattis, Jr., age 73, of Wellsboro, PA, died Sunday, June 11, 2017 at his home. He was born March 3, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA, a son of Joseph L. and Virginia Mattis. Joseph was head of the Maintenance Department at Soldiers & Sailors Hospital before his retirement. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Joseph is survived by three daughters, Trina Pope of Osceola, PA, Marie (Bill) Woodring of Westfield, PA, Brenda Mattis of Clark Summit, PA; 2 brothers, Ray and Robert Mattis; 3 sisters, Virginia, Michelle; 3 grandchildren, Ashley, Christina, Jersey; 3 great grandchildren, Riley, Jeremy and Sabastian. He was predeceased by his parents; a son, Joseph L. “Schmoe” “Joey” Mattis, III in January 2009, and a brother, David Mattis and a sister Diane.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, June 16, 2017 from 11:00 A.M. to Noon at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield PA. Funeral services will follow at Noon with Pastor Harry Colegrove officiating. Burial will be in Tioga County Memorial Gardens, Mansfield, PA. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com
