Obituary of Richard H. Dunkel
Richard H. Dunkel, age 74, of Wellsboro, PA, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. He was born August 7, 1942 in Elmira, NY, a son of Henry and Anna (Zahorian) Dunkle. Richard was married to Josefa (Prima) Dunkel. He was a retired machinist. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran serving from 1960-1964. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Wellsboro, PA and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and butchering.
Richard is survived by his wife, Josefa; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard and Ledy Dunkle of Winchester, CA; Anthony Dunkel of Wellsboro, PA; 2 step-daughters, Sheila and Becky; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Sharon Dunkle of Pine City, NY; a sister, Leonora Race of Beaver Dams, NY; 2 grandchildren, Richard Dunkle, Jr. and Yachi Dunkle; 2 great grandchildren, Maya Dunkle and Bryson Hampton. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Michael, Henry and Paul Dunkle; a sister, Lena Pautz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Southside, 224 Franklin St., Elmira, NY. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA is assisting the family. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com
