Obituary of Paul R. Congdon
Paul R. Congdon, age 85, of Gillett, PA, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Troy Community Hospital. He was born February 21, 1931 in Elmira, NY, a son of Harold and Alta (McLean) Congdon. Paul graduated from Troy High School in 1951 and married his wife, Janice (Young) in 1951. He was employed at Schweizer Aircraft in the assembly department for 40 years. Paul was a member of the Coryland Baptist Church; enjoyed airplanes, John Deere tractors, beef cows, his donkey, and watching sports. He was a very strong and quiet man who loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
Paul is survived by his wife, Janice; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Neil and JoAnn Congdon of Troy, Brian and Sandra Congdon of Gillett, Todd and Tina Congdon of Troy; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Stephen Pellegrino of Narragansett, RI, Cheryl and Peter Chrzan of Troy, PA; a brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Bonnie Congdon of Dublin, VA; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Marjory and Donald Havens of Troy, Carol Rockwell of Troy; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Richard Rockwell; great grandson, Brody Roy, and in-laws, Tracy and Charlotte Young.
In keeping with Paul's wishes, there will be no services. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701, or the Coryland Baptist Church, 3028 Hickory Run, Columbia Cross Roads, PA 16914. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S.
